Green Enterprise: Innovation for a Circular Economy proposal development
Project Title: Developing a Circular Textiles System for Ireland
This project involved the development of a proposal looking for funding under the EPA’s Green Enterprise: Innovation for a Circular Economy 2020 call. This is a funding programme to support innovators in Ireland to develop and demonstrate consumer and business solutions that will stimulate the circular economy.
The purpose and objectives of this project was to address key national challenges including informing the design of separate collection schemes for positive impact and finding expanded or new local capacity for managing the textiles collected.
The outcomes of which will support a more circular textiles system in Ireland, inform policy makers, stimulate an operating environment for the prevention and reuse of textiles, support new business opportunities, and enhance the competitiveness, sustainable growth and resilience of the second-hand sector.
Network projects – Coordination of a Pilot Reuse and Repair Network in Northern Ireland
This project included:
- Coordination of virtual networking/consultation event
- Providing support to establish membership offerings, online resources and initiate member engagement
- Development of webpage to explain Northern Ireland pilot network project
Local Authority Projects – Provision of Environmental consultation services to Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council
The consultation was primarily for an anti-litter and anti-graffiti initiative. It involved consideration of the landscape, sustainability, community engagement and climate action. In addition, the project involved the provision of the following:
- Paper based reviews of application forms received
- Stakeholder meetings
- Site visits and reports: Individual report for each stakeholder was provided
